Product Description
Woodward Governor Company governors regulated fuel-rack position on marine diesel engines aboard Navy auxiliaries, submarines, destroyers, and merchant vessels. According to publicly filed asbestos litigation records, the mechanical-hydraulic governor drive housings allegedly contained asbestos fabric friction pads inside torsional-damper couplings, compressed asbestos-sheet gaskets between the governor base and engine accessory pad, and braided asbestos packing at the governor drive-shaft gland. Governor rebuild and calibration allegedly disturbed these components during periodic overhauls.
