Product Description

Waukesha Motor Company (founded 1906, Waukesha WI; acquired by Dresser Industries 1968, today part of GE Aviation / Baker Hughes), Continental Motors Corporation (founded 1905, Muskegon MI; acquired by Ryan Aeronautical 1969), and Wisconsin Motors (founded 1909, Milwaukee WI) manufactured through the 20th century industrial and automotive gasoline and diesel engines for oilfield gas-compression service, industrial power-generation gensets, forklifts, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, and OEM applications.

Plaintiffs alleged in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation that Waukesha, Continental, and Wisconsin engines were specified through the asbestos era with asbestos exhaust manifold and turbocharger insulation, asbestos gaskets at cylinder heads and exhaust manifolds, and asbestos electrical wire insulation on engine wiring. Diesel mechanics, oilfield mechanics, and industrial engine mechanics who serviced these engines disturbed asbestos as routine maintenance.

Waukesha / Continental / Wisconsin has been named as a Manufacturer Defendant in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation.
