Product Description
The Terex TR-70 was a 70-ton class off-highway rear-dump haul truck widely deployed on surface coal, iron-ore, aggregate, and copper operations from the 1970s into the 1980s. According to publicly filed asbestos litigation records, the TR-70 allegedly used chrysotile-asbestos brake blocks and drum linings on both the service brakes and the wet-disc or dry retarder brake system. Replacement blocks and linings were allegedly supplied through the Terex dealer network and aftermarket friction houses.
Workers Exposed
Mining haul-truck drivers and mine-shop mechanics allegedly encountered airborne asbestos during brake-block replacement, drum resurfacing, and compressed-air cleaning of brake assemblies. Heavy-equipment mechanics and IUOE operating engineers on surface-mine pits allegedly worked routinely around TR-70 fleets on brake and wheel service.
