Product Description
Riley Stoker Corporation (founded 1891, Worcester MA; today Riley Power and Babcock Power Inc.) and Erie City Iron Works (founded 1859, Erie PA; today part of Zurn Industries) manufactured through the 20th century two of the principal U.S. lines of utility and industrial boilers, stoker systems, spreader stokers, air preheaters, economizers, and superheater assemblies — competing with Babcock & Wilcox, Combustion Engineering, and Foster Wheeler for the U.S. utility and industrial boiler market.
Plaintiffs alleged in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation that Riley Stoker and Erie City Iron Works utility and industrial boilers were specified through the asbestos era with asbestos refractory, block insulation, and boiler-jacket insulation, asbestos pipe covering on installed boiler steam and hot-water piping, and asbestos gaskets and packing at boiler connections.
Riley Stoker / Riley Power / Babcock Power and Erie City Iron Works / Zurn Industries have been named as Manufacturer Defendants in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation. (See also the individual Riley Stoker product pages and Zurn Erie City Boilers page.)
