Product Description

Pacor, Inc. (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) was through the second half of the 20th century a major Mid-Atlantic and Northeast U.S. asbestos insulation distributor and installation contractor. Pacor supplied and installed asbestos pipe covering, block insulation, asbestos cement, marine insulation, and specialty refractory products to U.S. Navy and commercial shipyards (Philadelphia Naval Shipyard, Sun Ship, NY Ship, and Bath Iron Works dispatch), Mid-Atlantic refineries, fossil and nuclear power plants, paper mills, and industrial construction sites. Pacor was a Johns-Manville authorized distributor and was a major channel of Manville and other principal manufacturers’ asbestos products into the regional industrial market.

Pacor entered Chapter 11 reorganization in 1989 driven by asbestos personal-injury liability and is among the most heavily-litigated U.S. asbestos distributors. Plaintiffs alleged in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation that Pacor distributed and installed asbestos-containing products manufactured by Johns-Manville and other principal manufacturers throughout the documented era and that Pacor’s distribution and installation activities exposed its own workforce, dispatched journeymen, and the broader industrial trade workforce to respirable asbestos fibers.

Pacor, Inc. has been named as a Manufacturer Defendant, Distributor Defendant, and Installer Defendant in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation.
