Product Description

Nash Engineering Company (South Norwalk CT — founded 1905 by Lewis H. Nash; ultimately absorbed into Gardner Denver and later Ingersoll Rand; today Ingersoll Rand’s Nash brand) manufactured through the 20th century liquid-ring vacuum pumps and compressors widely used in U.S. Navy shipboard condensate and vacuum service, marine engine rooms, refinery vacuum-distillation service, power-plant condenser evacuation, paper-mill vacuum service, and general industrial vacuum applications.

Plaintiffs alleged in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation that Nash Engineering vacuum pumps and liquid-ring pumps were specified through the asbestos era with asbestos pump packing at stuffing boxes, asbestos casing and flange gaskets, and asbestos motor insulation. Navy machinist mates, marine machinists, refinery operators, and industrial-plant maintenance workers who repacked and serviced Nash pumps disturbed asbestos as routine maintenance.

Nash Engineering Company / Gardner Denver / Ingersoll Rand has been named as a Manufacturer Defendant in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation.
