Product Description
Mundet Cork Corporation (North Bergen, New Jersey) manufactured through the asbestos era a major U.S. line of asbestos-cork composite insulation — pipe covering, block insulation, and gasket sheet material — combining ground cork with chrysotile asbestos and asphalt binders. Mundet asbestos-cork insulation was specified for marine engine-room and Navy shipboard insulation, refinery low-temperature service, refrigeration plant insulation, and cold-process industrial applications where its combination of low thermal conductivity and resistance to moisture, hydrocarbons, and mechanical damage made it a preferred material.
Mundet exited the asbestos business circa 1968. The company was a defendant in some of the earliest U.S. asbestos personal-injury actions filed by insulators in the 1970s-80s, and Mundet asbestos-cork products are widely documented across the asbestos litigation record.
Plaintiffs alleged in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation that Mundet asbestos-cork insulation released respirable chrysotile asbestos fibers during routine cutting, fitting, installation, and removal — particularly during marine and shipyard insulation work where insulators frequently cut block and pipe covering to fit confined engine-room and machinery-space geometry.
Mundet Cork Corporation has been named as a Manufacturer Defendant in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation.

If You Worked With Mundet Asbestos-Cork Insulation
If you cut, installed, repaired, or removed Mundet asbestos-cork insulation during the asbestos era — including aboard a U.S. Navy ship, commercial vessel, refinery cold-process unit, or industrial refrigeration plant — and have since been diagnosed with mesothelioma, asbestosis, lung cancer, or another asbestos-related illness, you may have legal rights.
