Product Description

Marco Chemical Company (headquartered Linden New Jersey) was through the 1940s-1970s one of the principal early U.S. polyester resin producers. The DuBois “Plastics History U.S.A.” (1972) volume documents the U.S. Air Force’s 1942 polyester-resin development contract awarded to Marco Chemical of Linden NJ — the first major U.S. wartime polyester-resin production program — and identifies Marco Chemical as one of the principal early U.S. polyester resin producers alongside American Cyanamid, E.I. du Pont de Nemours, Libby Owens Ford, Plaskon Company, and Pittsburgh Plate Glass.

Plaintiffs alleged in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation that Marco Chemical polyester resin matrices were formulated through the asbestos era for use in glass-fibre and asbestos-reinforced laminate fabrication — including military, marine, electrical, and industrial applications — and that workers who handled, mixed, fabricated, or machined Marco Chemical polyester resin products with asbestos reinforcement were exposed to airborne asbestos fibers.

Marco Chemical Company has been named as a Manufacturer Defendant in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation.
