Product Description

Krupp Fordertechnik supplied heavy-duty overland and in-plant conveyor systems to iron-ore, taconite, and hard-rock mining operations, including large-tonnage installations that connected pits to concentrators. According to publicly filed asbestos litigation records, the belt-cleaner blades, scrapers, and conveyor drive-motor brake assemblies on legacy Krupp systems allegedly used woven asbestos-fabric friction and cleaner components. Blade changes and brake servicing allegedly released fibers along conveyor galleries.

Workers Exposed

Taconite mill millwrights on the Mesabi Range, iron mill electricians, mineral processing plant workers walking transfer houses, and hard-rock miners assisting conveyor rebuilds are reported in publicly filed litigation records to have allegedly encountered asbestos fibers around Krupp Fordertechnik conveyor systems. Fiber release during scraper-blade replacement and drive brake servicing was allegedly routine.
