Product Description

The Komatsu D75 was a heavy crawler bulldozer introduced to North American construction and mining fleets in the 1970s. According to publicly filed asbestos litigation records, the D75 drivetrain allegedly incorporated chrysotile-asbestos brake linings on the service brakes and asbestos friction discs in the steering-clutch packs. Dealer replacement bands, linings, and clutch discs were allegedly stocked as standard service parts through the 1980s.

Workers Exposed

Operators and mechanics allegedly encountered airborne asbestos fibers during steering-clutch adjustment, brake-lining replacement, and final-drive service on D75 machines. Compressed-air cleaning of clutch and brake housings allegedly aerosolized worn friction dust. Heavy-equipment operators, IUOE members, construction laborers, and dealer-shop mechanics all allegedly worked around D75 dozers on grading, quarry, and site-prep jobs.
