Product Description
J.T. Thorpe & Son was a longstanding insulation and refractory installation contractor headquartered in Los Angeles, California, with operations across the western and southern United States. J.T. Thorpe supplied and installed thermal-insulation and refractory systems at refineries, powerhouses, chemical plants, steel mills, cement plants, and other heavy-industrial project sites.
Plaintiffs alleged in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation that J.T. Thorpe & Son distributed and installed asbestos pipe covering, block insulation, insulating cement, spray-applied fireproofing, and refractory products at industrial project sites, and that its insulators and refractory workers — along with adjacent pipefitters, boilermakers, and millwrights — allegedly encountered airborne asbestos fibers during original insulation installation, repair, and tear-out work spanning multiple decades.
