Service Description
Iowa-Illinois Taylor Insulation Contracting, Inc. is a long-established Midwest industrial insulation contractor. Through the asbestos era, Taylor dispatched insulators, refractory masons, and supporting trades to industrial customers across Iowa, Illinois, Nebraska, and broader Midwest industrial corridor — installing, removing, and repairing asbestos pipe insulation, block insulation, refractory, and related insulation systems at electric utility power plants, petroleum refineries, chemical plants, paper mills, steel mills, food and feed processing plants, and other industrial worksites.
Iowa-Illinois Taylor Insulation has been named as a corporate defendant in publicly filed Iowa and Illinois asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation.
Asbestos Exposure Pathway
Taylor employees and subcontractors performing insulation work at customer industrial sites — and bystander workers in adjacent areas — were exposed to asbestos during:
- Pipe insulation installation — cutting and installing asbestos pipe covering (Unibestos, Kaylo, Thermobestos, T12, PABCO, Careytemp) at customer facilities
- Block insulation installation — applying asbestos block insulation to boilers, turbines, condensers, evaporators
- Insulation removal and rip-out during demolition, repair, and major overhaul work — among the highest-fiber-release activities in the insulation trade
- Refractory installation and removal in furnaces and boilers
- Mud and finishing cement application for insulation jacketing
- Asbestos-cement (transite) panel installation and removal
