Product and Premises Description
Gould Inc. (formed 1969 by the merger of Gould-National Batteries and I-T-E Circuit Breaker Company; broken up in 1988 with divisions sold to various successors) was through the 1970s-1980s a diversified U.S. industrial electronics and electric-equipment company. Gould operated through the late asbestos era U.S. plants manufacturing electric motors, industrial batteries, I-T-E circuit breakers and switchgear, semiconductors, and defense electronics.
Plaintiffs alleged in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation that Gould electric motors and I-T-E circuit breakers were specified through the asbestos era with asbestos motor winding insulation, asbestos arc-chute components in switchgear, and asbestos-filled phenolic laminate components, and that Gould manufacturing plants operated with the standard heavy-industry asbestos infrastructure profile.
Gould Inc. / I-T-E Circuit Breaker has been named as a Manufacturer Defendant and Premises Defendant in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation.
