Product Description
Goss International Corporation (and the predecessor Goss Printing Press Company of Chicago, founded 1885) was the dominant U.S. manufacturer of large newspaper web offset presses through the asbestos era. Goss web presses ran in virtually every major U.S. daily newspaper plant — multi-unit, multi-story machines processing newsprint webs at thousands of feet per minute, with in-line drying ovens, ink-temperature control systems, and heated impression cylinders.
Plaintiffs alleged in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation that Goss newspaper web presses were specified with asbestos-containing materials:
- Heat-set drying ovens with asbestos block and paper insulation
- Heated-roller gasket material
- Electrical wire insulation on press motors, drives, and control panels
- Steam-piping insulation on plant utility connections
Goss International (and predecessor Goss Printing Press Company) has been named as a Manufacturer Defendant in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation.
