Product Description
According to publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation records, General Refractories Company allegedly supplied asbestos-containing refractory insulation board and backup insulation block installed behind hot-face brick in reheat furnace walls, roofs, soaking pit covers, and related steel mill furnace equipment. Plaintiffs allegedly identified General Refractories product shipments as a source of occupational asbestos exposure during roll-shop shutdowns and furnace rebuild campaigns.
Litigation records allegedly describe asbestos fiber used as reinforcement and thermal-insulating filler in board and block formulations, released as respirable dust when workers sawed, scored, and hand-fit panels to shape, and when spent board was torn out during furnace demolition.
