The General Electric Frame 5 (MS5001) was a heavy-duty industrial gas turbine widely deployed as prime mover for centrifugal gas compressors at U.S. interstate natural gas pipeline mainline compressor stations from the 1960s onward. According to publicly filed asbestos litigation records, Frame 5 pipeline packages were allegedly wrapped with asbestos-containing cloth lagging over the turbine casing, hot section, and exhaust ducts, allegedly used asbestos combustor and flange gaskets, and allegedly used asbestos rope packing at hot exhaust joints.
