Product Description

Ford Motorcraft (Ford Motor Company’s OEM-branded aftermarket parts division), Chrysler Mopar (Chrysler Corporation’s OEM-branded aftermarket parts division), and GM AC Delco (General Motors’ OEM-branded aftermarket parts division) allegedly sold through the asbestos era asbestos-containing OEM-branded aftermarket brake linings, brake shoes, brake pads, and clutch facings through dealership parts channels and independent parts distributors nationwide.

While Bendix, Abex, Raybestos-Manhattan, Federal-Mogul, and Burns/Borg-Warner supplied much of the OEM friction inventory, the OEMs’ OEM-branded aftermarket labels (Motorcraft, Mopar, AC Delco) put the OEM’s own name and warranty on the brake friction products distributed through dealer service and independent aftermarket channels.

Plaintiffs alleged in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation that Motorcraft, Mopar, and AC Delco branded brake linings, brake pads, brake shoes, and clutch facings contained chrysotile asbestos through the documented era and that brake mechanics, automotive technicians, and DIY consumers who replaced, sanded, or worked in proximity to these OEM-branded brake products were exposed to airborne asbestos.

Ford Motor Company (Motorcraft), Chrysler Corporation / Stellantis (Mopar), and General Motors (AC Delco) have been named as Manufacturer Defendants in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation for the OEM-branded aftermarket brake products.
