Product Description

Ford Motor Company (see also the Ford Motor Rouge Detroit premises page for Ford manufacturing plant premises coverage) allegedly installed through the asbestos era OEM asbestos brake linings, brake pads, brake shoes, and clutch facings as original equipment on Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury brand passenger cars, trucks, and vehicles. Ford OEM brake friction was supplied to Ford by Bendix (Honeywell), Abex, Raybestos-Manhattan, Federal-Mogul, and other principal U.S. friction manufacturers.

Plaintiffs alleged in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation that Ford OEM brake and clutch friction products contained chrysotile asbestos through the documented era and that brake mechanics, automotive technicians, Ford dealership service workers, and DIY consumers who serviced OEM brake friction on Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles were exposed to airborne asbestos.

Ford Motor Company has been named as a Manufacturer Defendant in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation for OEM brake friction product liability (in addition to premises-liability exposure covered on the Ford Rouge Detroit premises page).
