Product Description
Fuller-Traylor primary gyratory crushers — now marketed under FLSmidth — were the first stage of size reduction at large open-pit copper, iron, and taconite operations. According to publicly filed asbestos litigation records, the throat/dust seal assemblies and spider-bearing packing on these massive machines allegedly incorporated asbestos-containing refractory or braided components to survive heat, impact, and abrasive rock. Crusher rebuilds inside primary crusher galleries allegedly disturbed friable fibers as worn components were cut out.
Workers Exposed
Hard-rock miners at open-pit copper and taconite operations, crusher operators tending primary gyratories, and mineral processing plant workers assisting rebuilds are reported in publicly filed litigation records to have allegedly encountered asbestos fibers around Fuller-Traylor gyratory crushers. Mill operators walking crusher galleries during dusty rebuilds allegedly experienced similar exposure.
