Product Description
Federal Pacific Electric (FPE) produced the Stab-Lok load center and industrial panelboard line from the 1950s through the 1980s, sold widely into residential, commercial, and light-industrial installations. According to publicly filed asbestos litigation records, FPE panelboards allegedly used woven chrysotile fabric barriers between phase bus bars and molded asbestos-phenolic bus supports and breaker landing pads to contain arc-fault energy inside the enclosure.
Field-cutting knockouts, replacing bus supports, and rebuilding damaged panels after arc-fault events allegedly liberated asbestos fibers into the electrician’s breathing zone.
