Product Description

Farnam Companies is alleged in publicly filed asbestos litigation records to have die-cut compressed asbestos fiber sheet stock into cylinder head gaskets, exhaust manifold gaskets, and general engine sealing components for stationary, industrial, and marine engine builders. Farnam allegedly acted as a converter — buying raw compressed asbestos sheet from primary sheet-goods manufacturers and stamping finished gasket sets to customer specifications from the 1940s into the 1980s. Its allegedly asbestos-containing gaskets reportedly reached pipeline pump-station engines, natural-gas compressor engines, agricultural power units, and marine auxiliaries.

Workers Exposed

Litigation records allegedly describe exposure among industrial engine mechanics servicing pipeline and compressor-station engines, engine rebuilders working stationary and marine powerplants, machine shop workers handling head resurfacing and dry cleanup, marine engine mechanics servicing auxiliary generators and workboat mains, and gasket-set assemblers at Farnam facilities who cut, stacked, and packaged asbestos sheet stock under dusty shop conditions.
