Product Description
Evapco, Inc. (founded 1976, headquartered Taneytown MD) manufactured through the late asbestos era industrial cooling towers, evaporative condensers, and closed-circuit fluid coolers for refinery, petrochemical, power-plant, industrial process cooling, and commercial HVAC installations. Evapco entered the U.S. cooling-tower market late in the asbestos era but its early product lines were specified with asbestos-cement fill and structural components consistent with industry practice of the time.
Plaintiffs alleged in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation that Evapco cooling towers of the late asbestos era were specified with asbestos-cement (Transite-style) cooling-tower fill and structural members, asbestos gasket material at flanged connections, and asbestos electrical insulation on fan motor systems.
Evapco has been named as a Manufacturer Defendant in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation.
