Product Description
Edward Valves, Inc. (East Chicago, Indiana — later acquired and operated as Rockwell-Edward within Rockwell International, and ultimately as Flowserve Edward) was through the 20th century a leading U.S. manufacturer of forged-steel gate, globe, and check valves for high-pressure, high-temperature service in refineries, power plants, petrochemical facilities, and nuclear plants. Edward valves were specified for the most severe steam and process services in U.S. industry — superheated steam mains, refinery hot-oil service, boiler feedwater, main steam, and reactor coolant.
Plaintiffs alleged in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation that Edward Valves were specified with asbestos valve stem packing, asbestos bonnet gaskets, and related asbestos-containing sealing components. Pipefitters and refinery and power-plant valve technicians who repacked and rebuilt Edward valves disturbed asbestos packing during routine maintenance.
Edward Valves / Rockwell-Edward has been named as a Manufacturer Defendant in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation.
