Product Description

Dresser-Rand Company (formed 1987 by the joint-venture combination of Ingersoll-Rand’s Turbomachinery division and Dresser Industries’ compressor and turbine operations; ultimately consolidated as Dresser-Rand LLC 2000 and acquired by Siemens Energy in 2014) manufactures through the documented era and today industrial compressors, centrifugal pumps, reciprocating pumps, and steam turbines for refinery, petrochemical, power-plant, and industrial service. Dresser-Rand product lines derive from historic asbestos-era predecessor operations dating back into the late 19th century.

Plaintiffs alleged in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation that Dresser-Rand (and predecessor Ingersoll-Rand Turbomachinery and Dresser Compressor / Dresser Turbine) refinery compressors, pumps, and steam turbines were specified through the asbestos era with:

  • Asbestos pump and compressor packing at stuffing boxes
  • Asbestos casing and flange gaskets at process connections
  • Asbestos electrical insulation on motor and control wiring
  • Asbestos steam-turbine casing insulation and lagging

Refinery pipefitters, plant operators, and millwrights who repacked, rebuilt, and serviced Dresser-Rand equipment disturbed asbestos as routine maintenance work.

Dresser-Rand / Dresser Industries / Ingersoll-Rand / Siemens has been named as a Manufacturer Defendant in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation.
