Product Description
Crane Deming Pumps, Inc. (Salem, Ohio) — a long-running subsidiary of Crane Co. — manufactured through the asbestos era a major U.S. line of centrifugal pumps for industrial process, municipal water and wastewater, boiler-feed, condensate-return, and commercial HVAC building-service applications. Crane Deming pumps were sold through plumbing-and-mechanical wholesalers nationally and were a standard specification in U.S. municipal water utilities and commercial-building chilled-water and condensate systems.
Plaintiffs alleged in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation that Crane Deming pumps were specified with asbestos pump packing at the stuffing box, asbestos casing and flange gaskets, and asbestos motor and bearing-housing insulation. Pipefitters, plant millwrights, water-utility operators, and HVAC service mechanics who repacked, rebuilt, and serviced Crane Deming pumps disturbed asbestos as a routine part of the maintenance trade.
Crane Co. / Crane Deming has been named as a Manufacturer Defendant in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation.
