Product Description
Cessna Aircraft Company (Wichita, KS) allegedly manufactured single- and twin-engine general-aviation aircraft including the Cessna 150/152, 172 Skyhawk, 175, 177 Cardinal, 180, 182 Skylane, 185 Skywagon, 206/207 Stationair, 210 Centurion, 310, 320, 335, 340, 401, 402, 411, 414, and 421 from the 1940s through the 1980s. Plaintiffs alleged in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation that Cessna cabin firewalls were insulated with asbestos-cloth blankets between the engine compartment and cabin, and that turbo-charged Cessna models — T182, T206, T210, T310, T320, T340, 414, and 421 — shipped with asbestos-cloth and asbestos-millboard wrap on turbochargers, wastegates, and exhaust augmentor tubes.
Firewall repair, turbocharger overhaul, and exhaust-system replacement allegedly required disturbance of aged, friable asbestos-fabric material, releasing respirable fibers into general-aviation maintenance shops.
