Product Description
Byron Jackson Pump Company (Long Beach/Vernon, California — later acquired into the Borg-Warner Pumps division and ultimately operated as Flowserve Byron Jackson) manufactured through the 20th century a major U.S. line of refinery, power-plant, water-utility, and pipeline centrifugal pumps. Byron Jackson vertical turbine pumps and horizontal split-case pumps were standard in West Coast and Gulf Coast refinery service and in major U.S. water and pipeline installations.
Plaintiffs alleged in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation that Byron Jackson pumps were specified with asbestos pump packing, asbestos casing and flange gaskets, and asbestos motor and bearing-housing insulation. Refinery operators, pipefitters, and pump-shop technicians who serviced Byron Jackson pumps disturbed asbestos packing and gasket material as a routine part of pump rebuild work.
Byron Jackson / Borg-Warner Pumps has been named as a Manufacturer Defendant in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation.
