Product Description
Black & Decker Corporation (founded 1910, Towson MD; today part of Stanley Black & Decker), Porter-Cable (founded 1906, Syracuse NY; today part of Stanley Black & Decker), and DeWalt (founded 1924 in Leola PA; today a Stanley Black & Decker brand) manufactured through the 20th century some of the principal U.S. lines of portable electric power tools — drills, saws, sanders, routers, and grinders — used across construction, industrial, and home-workshop applications.
Plaintiffs alleged in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation that portable power tools manufactured through the asbestos era contained asbestos motor winding insulation on small power-tool electric motors, asbestos brake-block material on power-tool clutches (particularly on grinders and cut-off tools), and asbestos electrical wire insulation on tool power cords and internal wiring.
Black & Decker / Porter-Cable / DeWalt has been named as a Manufacturer Defendant in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation.
