Premises Description

Bechtel Corporation (founded 1898 as W.A. Bechtel Company; today headquartered Reston VA; family-owned) is one of the largest U.S. and global engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractors. Bechtel is particularly known for large-scale infrastructure — Hoover Dam (as part of Six Companies), the Trans-Alaska Pipeline, and a substantial share of the U.S. nuclear power plant construction program of the 1960s-1980s.

Bechtel-constructed or Bechtel-managed asbestos-era U.S. projects included dozens of major fossil and nuclear power plants (including Diablo Canyon, Palo Verde, San Onofre, and many others), refineries and petrochemical plants across the Gulf Coast and West Coast, and major industrial and infrastructure projects across the U.S.

Plaintiffs alleged in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation that Bechtel-engineered and Bechtel-constructed nuclear plants, refineries, and industrial projects specified through the asbestos era extensive asbestos-containing materials — including refractory, pipe covering, gaskets, and spray-applied fireproofing — and that Bechtel exposed pipefitters, insulators, boilermakers, and construction-trade workers dispatched to Bechtel EPC projects to extensive asbestos.

Bechtel Corporation has been named as a Premises/Construction Defendant in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation.

If You Worked on a Bechtel Corporation Project

If you worked on a Bechtel-engineered or Bechtel-constructed nuclear plant, refinery, petrochemical, power-plant, or industrial project during the asbestos era — as a Bechtel employee or as a dispatched contractor trade worker — and have since been diagnosed with mesothelioma, asbestosis, lung cancer, or another asbestos-related illness, you may have legal rights.
