Product Description

Baker Perkins Inc. manufactured large industrial mixers, ovens, dryers, extruders, and process equipment for bakery, confectionery, chemical, plastic, rubber, and industrial applications. Continuous ovens, sigma-blade mixers, and rotary dryers operated at elevated temperatures and required substantial thermal insulation and high-temperature sealing.

Plaintiffs alleged in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation that Baker Perkins equipment was insulated with asbestos block, pipe covering, and refractory insulation on ovens, ducts, and steam-heated components, and that Baker Perkins equipment was fitted with asbestos-containing gaskets, packing, and rope at flanges, doors, hatches, and rotating shafts. Millwrights and maintenance mechanics alleged exposure during original installation, gasket and packing replacement, and equipment demolition.
