Product Description

Bailey Meter supplied instrumentation and control (I&C) cabinets, transmitters, and pneumatic control systems used across U.S. nuclear power stations. According to publicly filed asbestos litigation records, the Bailey I&C cabinet enclosures allegedly incorporated asbestos-fabric heat shields behind terminal blocks and near hot transmitters, asbestos-fiber panel gaskets sealing the enclosure doors, and asbestos-containing wire loom protecting internal harnesses. When I&C technicians allegedly opened cabinets to troubleshoot, replaced transmitters, or rewired terminal strips, they allegedly disturbed aged asbestos fabric that released respirable fibers into the control area.

Workers Exposed

Nuclear plant I&C technicians allegedly performed the majority of Bailey cabinet work — calibrations, transmitter changeouts, and terminal-strip rework. Nuclear plant maintenance electricians and general electricians allegedly pulled cable into and out of the cabinets. Mechanics allegedly assisted with pneumatic tubing tie-ins on Bailey pneumatic instrument racks.
