Product Description

Application Engineering Corporation (AEC) manufactured through the mid-to-late asbestos era mold chillers, mold temperature controllers, and refrigeration units used by U.S. plastics injection molding shops to maintain controlled low-mold temperatures during thermoplastic molding cycles. The DuBois “Plastics History U.S.A.” (1972) volume specifically documents AEC’s 40-to-105-ton mold chillers (figure 6-28) as the standard equipment used to “maintain low-mold temperatures for thermoplastic molding” through the late asbestos era.

Plaintiffs alleged in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation that AEC mold chillers and refrigeration units were specified through the asbestos era with asbestos refrigeration-line insulation, asbestos gasket material at compressor and heat-exchanger connections, asbestos electrical wire insulation on compressor and control wiring, and asbestos heat-shield material in chiller cabinet construction.

Application Engineering Corporation has been named as a Manufacturer Defendant in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation.

Workers Exposed

  • Plastics-machinery operators running AEC mold chiller installations
  • Refrigeration mechanics and HVAC technicians servicing AEC chillers
  • Plant maintenance workers at injection-molding shops with AEC chiller installations

If You Worked With AEC Mold Chillers

If you installed, operated, or serviced Application Engineering Corporation mold chillers, mold temperature controllers, or refrigeration units in plastics injection molding operations during the asbestos era — and have since been diagnosed with mesothelioma, asbestosis, lung cancer, or another asbestos-related illness — you may have legal rights.
