Product Description
American Standard institutional hot water boilers were allegedly manufactured with asbestos block insulation applied under the sheet metal jacket and asbestos-cement lining across the front head, rear head, and firebox door. According to publicly filed asbestos litigation records, these boilers served hospitals, schools, universities, apartment buildings, and municipal facilities. During annual teardowns, retubing, and rebrick work, plant operators and outside boilermakers cut, chipped, and swept out block insulation and asbestos cement dust, which allegedly became airborne inside the boiler room.
Workers Exposed
Institutional boiler operators, hospital and school plant operators, building maintenance mechanics, and steam-fitters and pipefitters working through UA locals are allegedly the trades most frequently identified in litigation records as having handled American Standard boiler jacket insulation and cement lining during service work.
