Product Description

American Standard Companies (formed 1929 by the merger of American Radiator Company — founded 1892 — and Standard Sanitary Manufacturing Company — founded 1875 — as the American Radiator & Standard Sanitary Corporation; renamed American Standard 1967; today the plumbing products business is American Standard Brands under LIXIL, and the HVAC business is American Standard Heating & Air Conditioning under Trane Technologies) manufactured through the 20th century one of the principal U.S. lines of cast-iron heating boilers, radiators, hydronic heating equipment, and plumbing fixtures for residential, commercial, and industrial installations.

Plaintiffs alleged in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation that American Standard cast-iron heating boilers, hydronic heating equipment, and installed heating systems were specified through the asbestos era with asbestos gasket material at boiler flange, section, and access connections, asbestos pipe covering on installed boiler steam and hot-water piping, and asbestos boiler-jacket insulation wrapping the cast-iron boiler section.

American Standard has been named as a Manufacturer Defendant in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation.
