Premises Description

Air Products & Chemicals, Inc. (founded 1940 in Detroit, headquartered since 1962 in Allentown PA — Trexlertown campus) is one of the largest U.S. industrial gas producers, supplying oxygen, nitrogen, argon, hydrogen, and specialty gases to refineries, steel mills, chemical plants, and semiconductor fabs. Air Products’ asbestos-era U.S. footprint included:

  • Allentown / Trexlertown PA — corporate headquarters and R&D
  • Houston TX — industrial gas and hydrogen operations for the Gulf Coast refinery and petrochemical complex
  • Baton Rouge / New Orleans LA — hydrogen and industrial gas supply along the Mississippi River corridor
  • Pace FL / Pensacola FL — industrial gas
  • Wichita KS — industrial gas and specialty
  • Los Angeles / Long Beach CA — Gulf Coast and West Coast industrial gas
  • Dozens of on-site air-separation units co-located at customer steel mills, refineries, and chemical plants

Plaintiffs alleged in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation that Air Products & Chemicals — as premises owner — exposed its plant workforce and contractor pipefitters, insulators, boilermakers, and millwrights to asbestos pipe covering on cryogenic and steam piping, block insulation on cold boxes and process equipment, gasketing and packing on process piping, and refractory in hydrogen reformers through the asbestos era.

Air Products & Chemicals has been named as a Premises Defendant in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation.
