Service Description
AC and S, Inc. (originally Armstrong Contracting & Supply Company, then ACandS, Inc.) was a major U.S. industrial insulation contractor through the asbestos era. AC&S dispatched insulators, refractory masons, and supporting trades to U.S. industrial customers — installing, removing, and repairing asbestos pipe insulation, block insulation, refractory, and related thermal insulation systems at electric utility power plants, petroleum refineries, chemical plants, paper mills, steel mills, naval shipyards, federal facilities, and broader U.S. industrial worksites.
In September 2002, AC&S filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy to address pending asbestos personal-injury claims. The AC&S Asbestos Settlement Trust was established under 11 U.S.C. § 524(g) to channel current and future asbestos personal-injury claims to a structured trust resolution.
AC&S has been named as an Installer Defendant in publicly filed OBLF Missouri and Illinois petitions including cases under captions naming “AC and S, Inc.” (Arbise, Baker, Beaty, Burkett, Cichelero cases referenced in the OBLF case nexus).
Asbestos Exposure Pathway
AC&S employees performing insulation work at customer industrial sites were exposed to asbestos during installation, removal, repair, and patch work on pipe insulation, block insulation, refractory, and asbestos-cement systems.
AC&S Asbestos Settlement Trust
Workers exposed to AC&S asbestos contracting work and surviving family members may be eligible for compensation under the AC&S Asbestos Settlement Trust distribution procedures.
If You Worked for AC&S / Armstrong Contracting
If you worked for AC and S, Inc. (or its Armstrong Contracting & Supply predecessor) as an employee, subcontractor, or as a customer-site worker exposed to AC&S work during the asbestos era — and have since been diagnosed with mesothelioma, asbestosis, lung cancer, or another asbestos-related illness — you may have legal rights including potential claims to the AC&S Asbestos Settlement Trust.
